Peace in the In-Between
The days between Christmas and New Year can feel a little strange, can’t they? The celebrations are mostly behind us, but the new year hasn’t quite begun. It’s a time of transition—a chance to pause and reflect before stepping into what’s next.
This week, let’s explore what God says about finding peace in these “in-between” moments of life.
Isaiah 26:3 (NIV):
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV):
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Life is full of “in-between” seasons—times when we’re neither here nor there, when things feel uncertain, and we don’t know what’s coming next. These days between Christmas and New Year can be a reflection of that.
But Scripture reminds us that even in these moments, God offers us peace. Isaiah assures us that God gives perfect peace to those who trust Him and focus their minds on Him.
Perfect peace, imagine that! The best kind of peace.
When we feel restless or unsure, shifting our gaze to God brings calm to our hearts.
Paul’s words in Philippians show us how to experience this peace: through prayer, gratitude, and surrender. God’s peace is not dependent on our circumstances—it transcends understanding, guarding our hearts and minds, no matter what season we’re in.
Questions to Ponder
1. How can you fix your mind on God this week?
What practices—prayer, reading Scripture, worship, or even quiet moments—can help you centre your thoughts on Him?
2. What “in-between” moments are you experiencing right now?
Whether it’s this week, this season of life, or a situation you’re waiting on, how can you invite God’s peace into that space?
3. What are you thankful for?
Gratitude shifts our perspective and opens our hearts to God’s peace. Take a moment to list three things you’re thankful for today.
As you wait in the “in-between,” remember that God is present with you. His peace is not something you have to earn or chase—it’s His gift to you as you trust Him.
